A gorgeous lat summer afternoon in Alfreton Park with decent Heanor results all round.

The Under 10s race was once again successfully contested by William Gascoyne with Jessica Willett in 4th place, and Tom Shaw making excellent progress to finish in 9th place.

The Under 12s race proved a little more exciting with a pile up in the first corner resulting in delays and a mechanical problem for Heanor's James Shaw.

In my last email I omitted details of the Cyclo Cross Championship event which is on the 15th of September.

Another couple of mistakes were:

1.      Clarion Track Champs - 2nd September Sunday at Newcastle under Lyme stadium (not the 3rd as I'd said)
This is a really easy track to ride for the first time or for someone who finds Manchester a bit daunting. The track champs are usually well attended and we ride for various events from the famous 5-mile champs to the Czech Team Pursuit...can you get a 3 or 4 man team together for this?

2.      Wortley Hall Weekend - 5th to 7th October
Final details are attached (below), this is a special one...with all the usual, 10mile TT, hill climb champs, club run, plus a special guest with an amazing story.

3.      Malcolm Elliott wins Stockport Clarion road race

Malcolm Elliott won the E123 event of the Clarion Road Race Championships last weekend. Unlucky for Malc, he's not a member of the Clarion and Mike Cowland of Fenland came home 1st Clarion rider taking the Clarion Championships. Mike now has eyes on the season long points competition, but he needs to get ahead of Andy Horner in the Hill Climb, 10-mile TT, Track Champs and Cyclo-Cross Champs…it could be a long end of season campaign for those hoping to get in the high places of the Championships.
